Synopsis

In a huge site in the North of Jordan, directed by a group of Spanish archaelogists, about twenty Jordanian workers are hired every year. One of them, Abo Dya, a fugitive from the capital who doesn’t fit anywhere, or with anyone, will try to get ahead.

Synopsis

Casa Bloc, an international reference of rationalist architecture, designed by GATCPAC (Sert, Torres Clavé, Subirana) was the first social housing built in Spain in the 1930s. But Casa Bloc’s project was interrupted by the Civil War and ended up as a residence for widows and orphans of the Guardia Civil, which remained active until 2015.
Currently, a foundation that manages social housing is undertaking a rehabilitation of part of the building to recover the original spirit and turn it into a shelter for people at risk of social exclusion.

Synopsis

BARRACA is a plastic artist and mountaineer. In 1985 he created the discipline – according to him – unique in the world, of painting on snow, called ‘Nivopintura’. The documentary follows the creation of the artist’s last and pharaonic work: Painting along 3 kilometers the crosses that demarcate the borders in the topographic maps directly to the terrain, at 2,000 meters of altitude. The portrait of a dreamer who according to him: “everybody has done things on the snow, but nobody has considered that his piss was a work of art. Well, I have.”

Synopsis

Ciutat de Granada 145-147-149 is the address of a new social housing complex for seniors at risk of social exclusion in Barcelona.

Three buildings that shelter 127 vulnerable seniors, with a small team of social and caretaker workers who give them basic assistance, as the inhabitants have to be autonomous for most of their activities. They find their space within a community that takes them out of their loneliness and at the same time forces them to live together, with all that this implies.

Synopsis

A  Constant Movement reviews the projects that, for 20 years and 10 editions, have marked the spirit of the International Biennial of Landscape Architecture, transferring the constant evolution of landscape to a look towards the present and futures to come. The camera walks through the landscapes accompanying real characters, with whom we discover the use and form of each space, beyond its original design. The documentary and aesthetic value of the piece create a journey that, without any advertising zeal, transmits and grows the essence sought by the Biennial. The piece was shot in 16mm in spaces awarded and recognized by the Biennial in Catalonia. Its presentation served as the closing of the 10th edition of the Biennial.

Synopsis

Beauty was the literary and artistic theme of Clàssics 2019. Taking this concept as a premise, we worked around the idea of corruption that is inevitably linked to it.

Text based on a passage of Death in Venice, by Thomas Mann, in which the author quotes a dialog between Phaedrus and Socrates, written by Plato in Dialogs Volume IX from the Bernat Metge collection.

In the middle Ages, to encourage different meditation schools, art was as, or even more, readily invoked than literature. This is the restoration process of an altarpiece that never left the four streets that encircle the Cathedral of Barcelona. The altarpiece by Bartolomé Bermejo commissioned by Lluís Desplà, to put it in his private oratory.

Synopsis

Havana, Cuba. 54th year of embargo. From her tiny office overlooking the US Interests Section, Lourdes counsels thousands seeking a travel visa for the US. She fine tunes her customers’ stories, so they have better chances to succeed. But despite helping others to travel, she has never been able to visit her mother, son and all family in Florida. “I quench the thirst of others every day, yet there’s not a drop of water for me” she states. After a long wait, Lourdes time has finally come: her interview is set. Will she able to travel and finally overturn her destiny of forced separation?

Synopsis

An Iberian village, a farming settlement, some military facilities, a shanty town, a communications antenna, an abandoned space, a 360º viewpoint of Barcelona, and finally, an open air museum. In 2013, the Rovira Hill is the sum of all these things. The rehabilitation of the space, started in 2009, maximizes the scars left by everything that has already existed.
