Synopsis

Synopsis

Under the heat of the sun at a Spanish archeological mission in northern Jordan, Abu Dya, a Palestinian Jordanian, digs the land for long hours. Salaries are low and the cost of living is rising. But Abu Dya wants to provide a different life for his family, but a criminal record stymies his efforts. Hafreiat shows one man’s relationship with his family, the land and its laws, and questions the possibility of banishing the past in a society that seems opposed to reintegration.

Synopsis

Casa Bloc, an international reference of rationalist architecture designed by GATCPAC (Sert, Torres Clavé and Subirana), was the first social housing built in Spain in the 1930s. But the Casa Bloc project was interrupted by the Civil War and ended up as a residence for widows and orphans of the Civil Guard, which remained active until 2015. Currently, Hàbitat3, a foundation that manages social housing is carrying out the rehabilitation of part of the building to recover the original spirit and turn it into a shelter for people at risk of social exclusion.

Synopsis

Among the sounds of the beach, a song in Basque from another era can be heard in the distance. It is a nostalgic song, longing for something, but what is it? In colorful Super 8, we move slowly between the gigantic vertical rock stratum of a geological setting. Coming from inside the stone, we hear three voices speaking simultaneously in Basque. They tell the story of a group of people who were trapped by a high tide that lasted thousands of years.

Synopsis

Ciutat de Granada 145-147-149 is the address of a new social housing complex for vulnerable seniors in Barcelona. These three buildings shelter 127 seniors, as well as a small team of caretakers and social workers who give them basic assistance. The inhabitants build community within a space that discourages loneliness and allows them to interact with each other.

Synopsis

A  Constant Movement reviews the projects that, for 20 years and 10 editions, have marked the spirit of the International Biennial of Landscape Architecture, transferring the constant evolution of landscape to a look towards the present and futures to come. The camera walks through the landscapes accompanying real characters, with whom we discover the use and form of each space, beyond its original design. The documentary and aesthetic value of the piece create a journey that, without any advertising zeal, transmits and grows the essence sought by the Biennial. The piece was shot in 16mm in spaces awarded and recognized by the Biennial in Catalonia. Its presentation served as the closing of the 10th edition of the Biennial.

Synopsis

Havana, Cuba. 54th year of embargo. From her tiny office overlooking the US Interests Section, Lourdes counsels thousands seeking a travel visa for the US. She fine tunes her customers’ stories, so they have better chances to succeed. But despite helping others to travel, she has never been able to visit her mother, son and all family in Florida. “I quench the thirst of others every day, yet there’s not a drop of water for me” she states. After a long wait, Lourdes time has finally come: her interview is set. Will she able to travel and finally overturn her destiny of forced separation?
